Community support

IAssist-NI in partnership with various organisations is providing support for the BME community in South Belfast, to help them get through these tough times as a result of COVID-19.

So far, through the support of these organisations, we have been able to assist a large number of community members by providing them the following:

Topups to help reduced their mobile and electricity costs
Culturally appropriate food packs and cooked meals
Packs of nappies, feminine hygiene products, toiletries & cleaning products
Befriending services – Telephone and virtual companionship, Zoom meetings, and at the door chit-chat to prevent total isolation.

We have provided these services with strict adherence to the COVID-19 prevention guidelines including social-distancing, and we would continue to do so to ensure that our service users are safe.

The organisations that have funded the projects include Belfast City Council, The Community Foundation, Forward South, Migrant Centre NI, Comic Relief, National Emergencies Trust, and Cooperation NI.
